Tropical Travels
Every Thursday in July, 2 PM to 4 PM
Learn about the tropics using a mix of hands-on science and art.
Bring your sunblock and hat as this program is held on the library’s beautiful patio! All materials and supplies provided FREE courtesy of the Friends of Carmel Valley Library!
July 3 – Welcome to the Tropics
Travelers will make leis, learn about volcanoes, and start making a model volcano!
July 10 – A Day at the Beach
Travelers will explore the beach using kinetic sand kits, make colored sand necklaces, learn about plate tectonics, earthquakes, and continue working on their model volcanoes!
July 17 – Surf and the High Seas
Travelers will decorate mini surfboards, see if they can build a LEGO boat that floats, and continue working on their model volcanoes!
July 24 – Tikis and Pirates Oh My!
Travelers will decorate Tiki masks, learn about pirates, do a swashbuckling activity, learn about lava and finish their model volcanoes!
July 31 – Ring of Fire Finale
Travelers will celebrate the end of the summer by watching tropical dances, listening to tropical music, and erupting their model volcanoes in a “Ring of Fire”!
